A poem by Genesis Magpayo, Founder & Co-Director
She is seen as a forgotten art form
A study on Shakespearean history where love in her life is a core theme of tragedy
It’s the same story
She makes her way through a different play with the same primitive storyline, each version less exciting than the next .
She is seen through the lens of stock characters
Each one spreading her apart like a character diagram,
Drawing conclusions about her life in their own ways.
Ways that she herself thought were to be false
Words that spread like wildfire across the respective homes, towns, and more.
She listens to them like constructive criticism
Changing her personality to assimilate
Becoming meek
Becoming submissive
All for them.
She has learned that her brain has a mind of its own
That it roams around free like a lost traveler
Finding places to stay in the crevices of her mind but always resurfacing in broad daylight
It creates fantasies from reality,
distorts people.
takes lies into truths,
kindness as a weakness
sees empathy as obsolete
forges her own words into plagiarism
manipulation into submission
apologies into her second language and
self-blame into her identity
She is her own melodrama
A series of studies on Shakespearean history that fails to recognize that her story never had a happy ending
Just a series of unfortunate events
A tragedy
