A poem by Jessica Quintero, Writer

sunflowers turn to each other

when they can’t find the sun—

i thought this to be strange

when i first found it out.

how could something so vital

be so easily replaced?

but then i found you

and as i found comfort in your words,

warmth in your light,

purpose in myself because you’ve shown me

to grow beyond cloudy days:

i realized the sun isn’t as vital

as i had once thought.

i couldn’t be more thankful to fate

for rooting me to you,

because i now have something that shines

so much brighter than the sun.

i’ve found new life in you,

please find one in me too.
